Kensei-Saintess Arc – Chapter 48

***We now enter the 3rd and last arc. This is when things got serious….! Anyway, I’m watching the livestream for Starrail’s version 3.1, it’s looking very much interesting indeed. Although I don’t know if I should pull for Tribbie or save for Castorice? (Why not both? Only if I’m such a whale~)***

Chapter 48 The Hero’s awakening

(...This place is...?)

What caught his eye was an unfamiliar ceiling.
It was a wide, white ceiling, not like the kind of inn you normally stay at, nor was it like the kind of guest room rented by a noble.
...He felt like he had been sleeping for an extremely long time.
He tried to sit up, exerting all his strength.

However, he couldn't put any strength into it.
He tried to exert just a little strength, but there was no reaction from his body, so he put all his strength into it again.
(The futon is heavy...)
But still, his body wouldn't move.
He couldn't even push the futon off of him, so he reluctantly looked around, the only thing he could move, and his initial impression was correct, as he saw the appearance of a large room.
The room had few decorations and only the bare minimum of furniture.
It was so plain that it almost seemed like a sick person's room.
Two women were having a conversation at the entrance to the room.

"Right now he must be with ------sama --- perhaps."
"That's right, ---- they’re holed up today too."

Maids, perhaps?
The two women were wearing long-sleeved navy blue dresses with aprons and brims on their heads.
I couldn't hear exactly what they were saying.
But there were people there, and I was relieved, and the tension I'd felt before I knew it melted away.

"The Saintess is -- what a --"
"The Kensei too -- but, as I thought, it's --"

The words Saintess and Kensei reached my ears, and I could tell that the two people I couldn't see were safe.

(That's right --)
Then I remembered.
Before I collapsed, I was fighting a demon and his subordinates in the forest.
And during that battle, I was poisoned.

"...!"

Remembering the situation at the time, I couldn't stay like this and jumped up.

"Guu...!"

But my body didn't wake up.
Instead, a cry of pain escaped from his mouth as the intense pain ran through his entire body.
(Poison...!)
I wondered if it was the effect of the last poison I had received.
As I was thinking this, the maids started to get noisy, as if they had noticed what was going on.

"Hero-sama, he woke up--"
"No way, Hero-sama--!"
"You need to hurry--to--!"
"Y-Yes!"

One of the maids ran off, looking very panicked.
(Come to think of it, how long had I been asleep for?)
Thinking that much---A sudden wave of sleepiness hit me, and I lost consciousness once again.
